REGISTRATION DATES FOR SUMMER SCHOOL 2019:
Summer school is a great way to fast track your high school courses, improve your grades, or free up next year’s timetable.
Both Morinville and Sturgeon Learning Centres offer summer school courses in July. One-on-one teacher assistance is available from 9 AM until 2:30 PM WEEK DAYS from July 2nd to July 29th. Phys. Ed. 10 is offered WEEK DAYS from July 2nd to July 15th. Attendance is mandatory for Phys Ed 10.
Registration dates for Summer School 2019:
Attend one of our registration nights at Morinville Learning Centre or Sturgeon Learning Centre
- Thursday, May 2, between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM, if you are interested in registering for CALM and/or Phys Ed 10
- Wednesday, May 22, between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM, to register for all other courses
Important information regarding Phys Ed 10 (3 credit) during Summer School:
- Runs weekdays from Tuesday, June 2nd to Monday, Juyly 15th, 2019
- Pick-up at 9:00 am on July 2nd outside your Learning Centre
- Daily attendance is mandatory
- Appropriate phys ed attire is required
It is recommended that students register for Summer School diploma level core courses prior to the end of May and non-diploma core courses by the end of June. The last day to register for Summer School is July 2nd. All course work and exams must be completed by July 29th.
Please note that registrations cannot be accepted on diploma exam days in June.
Students under 18 years of age require a parent / guardian authorization on the registration forms. The Summer School Registration Package may be accessed and completed prior to registration. A Birth Certificate or current Passport is required at time of registration as proof of legal name and age.
Students who register for Phys Ed 10 will also require an Alberta Health Care Number as well as a fee of $140 to cover cost of bussing and for admission to various venues.
Students who register for core subjects are required to pay a refundable book deposit fee of $100.
Payments must be in cash or cheque only please.
Courses (except Phys Ed 10) are offered through modules that can be completed at a Learning Centre and/or off-site on your own time. Sit down classes for Math 10C and/or Science 10 may be offered (minimum enrollment required).
We offer all high school levels (Grade 10 to 12) of core subjects (except K&E) and various career and technology courses, including:
- Social Studies
- Work Experience
- CALM (online and print available)
- Job Preparation (CTR1010)
- Workplace Safety (HCS3000)
- Phys. Ed. 10
Credits earned by students are applied toward their high school diploma. During summer school, students can only be registered in one 5-credit core subject.
Students completing diploma level courses write their diploma exams in August. Information about the August diploma exam writing centre will be provided to students by their teacher.
CALM Information Night and Material Pick-up
Students registered to complete CALM for Summer School must attend a CALM information night at the Learning Centre where they are registered.
- Morinville Learning Centre Monday, June 24th from 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM
- Sturgeon Learning Centre Tuesday, June 25th from 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM
Students will be given their schedule and will pick up their first module bundle (if taking the print version of CALM) or be given information on how to access the online version of CALM. If students are unable to attend their information night, please see a staff member to set-up an alternate day to pick-up materials.
